Short Course on Licenses – Covering The Basics

Effects of Driver’s License Suspension to Your Car Insurance When it comes to driver’s license suspension, you can expect that your car insurance rates to increase. Before your license suspension is lifted, you will need to prove that you have a car insurance. When it comes to car insurance cost, it may increase because of several factors such as having violations, penalties or sentence for an offense, such as being convicted of a DUI (driving under the influence) or DWI (driving while intoxicated), getting pulled for over speeding or car accidents. A driver’s license can be suspended because of car misuse, involvement in hit-and-run accident or any accident that the driver is proven at fault and repeated disregard of DUI or DWI rules. It may seem that the effects of driver’s license suspension are just superficial, not being able to drive until the suspension is lifted, but many people are not fully aware of the effects of not being able to drive not until they experience it themselves. Well there are many obvious reasons such as not being to drive for work, drive children to school, and not being able to visit your friends and family anytime you want to, without the stress and hassle of commuting. The less obvious situations are far more than what you initially expected like being restricted running errands, shopping, attending religious activities, attending doctor’s appointment, cannot fully assist someone who needs assistance like having to bring someone to the hospital because of an emergency, or bringing your dog to a dog day care or veterinarian as necessary. Beyond not being able to drive legally on your own, if your driver’s license is suspended, you become instantly a burden to your family and friends, feeling they are responsible for driving you around. Although public transportation may be the best option for some while waiting for their driver’s license suspension to be lifted, those who live in a small town or a place without a significant transportation system, will likely need to rely solely on their family and friends. Now, if you try to ignore the suspension and still drive, you are just putting yourself at great risk. Being caught driving with a suspended driver’s license may result in lengthened suspension, permanently lose your license, or in a worse case, even go to jail. Many drivers think getting back their driver’s license is the end of the story, but actually, the ordeal is just yet starting. When you consult your car insurance provider, you likely notice a significant increase in your car insurance rates. Your driving history will show the suspended driver’s license, affecting your car insurance rates for years.
